RETIRED
MY STUDIO
24 x 60
This piece was a major challenge for me and would be for any scratchboard artist who has only done the "easy" textures of Birds and furry animals. Smooth is the hardest. Felt Cowboy hat was hardest, The chaps were next then the boots and scarf. The lariat was easy, actually. The painting was also hard since the clay hard surface had been broken it wanted to suck the color off of the brush and brush strokes would show like crazy. I think I conquered it! The lariat belongs to a client who expressed interest from my initial photo of my own cowboys gear (George) if only I would use his lariat. He has purchased this piece but I had to show it. It was done to be a mate for "Gone But Not Forgotten", The Indian Bonnet.
